Fanatec has announced the new flagship model in its force feedback wheel range: the Podium Racing Wheel F1.
Compatible for the PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro systems, the Podium Racing Wheel F1 is an officially licensed Formula One product, and will be the sole provided wheel for the 2019 F1 Esports Series. The wheel rim itself is based on the Clubsport F1 design, and is claimed to be Fanatec’s most feature-rich wheel to date. As well as a suite of rocker switches, OLED displays and rotary encoders, the wheel also comes with the firm’s dual clutch paddle system.
Being Fanatec’s flagship model, the Podium Racing Wheel F1 is appropriately made out of high-grade materials such as blue Alcantara, aluminium and carbon fibre. It also comes with Fanatec’s direct drive force feedback system, which is said to be a first for a PS4-compatible wheel. The Fanatec Podium Racing Wheel F1 is available to pre-order for €1,499.95 (approx. £1,346 at current exchange rates), ahead of its release on 30th April 2019.
You can see in the gallery above that it is a meaty piece of kit, with that solid and relentless direct drive option. The wheel containing many more buttons and options for the racing purist. This wheel will be a big investment but given its complexity this is aimed directly at the more serious gamer.
