WRC 6 is due out for release this Autumn for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. We recently caught up with the publisher BigBen Interactive who revealed plenty of details for the upcoming rally racer.
We previously learned about the new physics and damage model for WRC 6 which you can check out here. This second part focuses very much on the content and visuals of the title.
WRC 6 will feature 14 countries with the newest addition of China. Of these 14 countries 11 will include super special stages (new for WRC 6) much like is found in the real world WRC championship. These special stages are said to be exact replicas of their real world counterparts and five of them will feature head to head racing as is the case in real life.
The special stages are only inspired by the real stages so don't expect any replicas, but with such limited development time this is hardly surprising. It's also been confirmed that WRC 6 will not feature any new cars as the teams are running the same vehicles as last year.
Visually WRC 6 will make several improvements on last year's instalment with improved ground surface transitions (with improved simulation of varying grip levels depending on surface). The cars will look prettier than ever thanks to the new shaders and there's a new particle system which should improve the look of the title especially in replay mode.
WRC 6 will also see improvements to the roadside trees and you can expect to see bigger audiences without a performance hit which should bring more life to proceedings which was one of our complaints with WRC 5.
Tyre compounds will come in two different flavours: soft and hard and you can expect WRC 6 to simulate punctures too should you push the car too far. The pace notes system is also new (available in simple or advanced forms) and should hopefully sound less robotic compared to last year's title.
Finally it has been confirmed that WRC 6 will have support for split screen multiplayer which is always a welcome addition and is sadly becoming more and more a luxury in racing titles in recent years.
Let us know in the comments if you're excited for WRC 6.
