News F1 2020 Michael Schumacher Deluxe Content Revealed

Classic cars and content are a highlight for us when it comes to new F1 games, alas the range is always limited but we’re thankful that some elements can be brought forward. Sometimes seeing these cars, such as the 1995 Benetton B195 can bring back gaming memories as well,  in this case, Formula 1 on the PlayStation 1, though I always used to race as Johnny Herbert.

Today we see the first gameplay trailer for the F1 2020 Michael Schumacher Deluxe Edition introducing four classic cars to the mix and granting early access to the game three days prior to release.

1991: Jordan 191 – The car that launched Michael’s career. The emerald green car was first driven at the 1991 Belgium Grand Prix

1994: Benetton B194 – The season Michael won his first World Championship, winning six of the first seven races

1995: Benetton B195 – In a class of its own, it brought Michael his second and Benetton’s first and only World Championship

2000: Ferrari F1-2000 – The car delivered 10 pole positions, 10 race victories and secured Ferrari its first driver’s World Championship since 1979

Not only does the F1 2020 Deluxe Schumacher Edition launch three days earlier than the regular version, but it also comes complete with exclusive themed car liveries and driver customisation items, including a unique podium celebration.

Additionally, players who purchase either ‘F1 2020 Seventy’ or the Deluxe Schumacher Edition will have access to the Ferrari F2004 – the very car which brought Schumacher his record-breaking seventh World Championship. The Ferrari F2004 has been updated with ‘#1’ added to the nosecone and his name embossed on the headrest.

“Nice to see the additional details added“, Lee Mather, F1 Franchise Game Director at Codemasters commented “As part of the 70th anniversary of F1, it’s fitting to celebrate the most successful World Champion of all time,” he continued, “We are equally excited to finally bring the Jordan 191 and Benetton B194 to the F1 series as both have been long-requested by our community, alongside two more of his iconic cars.”

Lee always backing the introduction of the classic cars, though the challenge of bringing these to an official F1 game is always far larger than many would realise given the complex licensing requirements.

F1 2020 Deluxe Schumacher Edition will be released on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC (DVD and via Steam), and Google Stadia. A Limited Edition F1 2020 Steelbook, also featuring Michael Schumacher, will be available in local markets via selected retailers and if you are interested in the Playstation 1 version referenced earlier, we’ve added that below to get your nostalgia flowing.
