Game: Inertial Drift
Platform: PC, PS4, Switch, XBox One
Publisher: PQube, PQube Games
Release Date: 11/09/2020
Another interesting title revealed this week arrives in the form of ‘Inertial Drift’ which is being developed by Level 91 and published by P-Qube in the UK.
A drifting game that initially gives off vibes of Initial D and Auto Modelista, but adds the unique feature of using both analogue sticks to control the drifting of the car. An interesting approach, it’s fair to say that this game will be pad only and no doubt great precision will be required to maximise your run.
Interestingly, there will be 16 different driving styles, assuming the twin-stick method opens up a range of alternative options for controlling your car, enabling players to establish their favourite technique or for greater longevity, master all 16 styles in becoming a true Drift King.
Artistically, the game is officially stylised in a ‘90s retro-future setting’ – at the moment, the jury is out if they’ve hit the mark with the art style, but there are several months of development left.
We don’t know what music will be featured, but hopefully some cheesy 90’s J-Pop will make the final playlist, just to give it that authentic feel. Inertial Drift is targeted to arrive on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in Spring 2020.
