The futuristic arcade racer Xenon Racer, developed by Italian studio 3DClouds, is scheduled to launch (digitally and physically) in early 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
The arcade racing title first came to our attention in early October this year with a release date set as “coming soon” hinting at a possible 2018 release. However, all has been quiet on the Xenon front lately so this news was inevitable. To soften the blow, the box art for Xenon Racer has been revealed, take a look below.
In Xenon Racer you’ll participate in a one-off championship featuring cutting-edge electric cars boosted by Xenon gas. Two of the racing locations have been revealed previously: Tokyo and the city of Dubai. Tokyo offers six unique tracks and Dubai offers an additional four, all of which can be raced in a reversed direction.
Today the development team has also revealed a third location: the city of Boston. Three different Boston themed tracks have been confirmed (available in both directions), however, no specific details have been provided just yet.
Several racing modes have also been confirmed, you can race against the AI in Fast Race and Elimination Mode, and unlock new cars, parts and maps in the singleplayer Championship. To practice your racing skills (alone), you can take on every track in Time Attack, Checkpoint Attack and Free Mode. A local split-screen mode and an online multiplayer component will also feature.
Sadly, (and rather unusually) no new trailer has been released, you can view the original announcement trailer for Xenon Racer below.
