If you had told me that Assetto Corsa Competizione would be ported to the PS4 and XBox a couple of years ago, I would have reacted with a somewhat muted response. Conflicted, on the one hand I would love to see a conversion, on the other side I would rather it be a quality conversion, a replication of the PC experience. On first impressions, does ACC manage that?

Well, having tested both the PC and console version it’s a yes and no. There is a lot good here, the graphics are nicely presented, it’s all there, but alas there is no denying the frame rate (tested on our standard PS4) makes a negative impact while the ffb and handling is definitely compromised in some way. Without deep analysis it feels like the car loses traction when turning without warning. There is little to no feeling of the tyres on the limit. Now I can only provide feedback based on the format used and the build at the time of testing which may have been updated. But it certainly didn’t feel right.

I’ve added my initial impressions in the video below. We’ll be looking at the GT4 cars on the PC in the coming days, alas following the release of the PS4 ACC video we weren’t provided with a opportunity to preview these. But either way we’ll give it a hands-on and no doubt come back for more ACC in the coming weeks.
