News Codemasters agrees acquisition of Project CARS developer Slightly Mad Studios

British racing game developer Codemasters has made the surprise announcement it’s taking the Project CARS creator Slightly Mad Studios under its wing.
According to Codemasters, by joining forces with Slightly Mad Studios, the group can now cement itself on the game-making stage as a “world-leading games developer and publisher of racing games“.
The acquisition also helps create an impressive roster of racing game franchises. Codemasters already makes games in the DiRT, GRID and licensed F1 series, with Slightly Mad Studios bringing to the table the Project CARS series and “an unannounced Hollywood blockbuster title” which is most likely the rumoured Fast & Furious game.
Taking on Slightly Mad now means the ever-expanding Codemasters Group portfolio now has five game studios, and around 700 employees between them.
While Slightly Mad Studios is now a fully owned subsidiary, Codemasters says the founder and chief executive Ian Bell will retain his position at the studio.
