Google’s game streaming platform Stadia is set to launch today, November 19, 2019, at 5 pm UK time.
For £119/$129 you’ll get the “Founder’s Edition” (available exclusively on the Google Store) which will grant you access to Stadia at launch along with three months of Stadia Pro for yourself and a friend, ChromeCast Ultra (for 4K, HDR, and 60 fps streaming), and a Night Blue Stadia controller (exclusive to the Founder’s Edition).
Stadia is Google’s answer to gaming without a console – simply buy the games you want and play them across devices such as TVs, laptops, and select tablets and smartphones.
Reception by critics has been mixed so far, one main concern is the high pricing of games which is sure to turn off many potential buyers. It remains to be seen how the platform develops over time, however, it’s probably fair to say that Stadia is off to a crawl.
Stadia’s resolution ranges from 4K to 720p to match your internet speed. Stadia has a minimum recommended internet speed of 10 Mbps, why not check your internet speed here. You can get a good idea of what resolutions you can run with the chart below.
