We’ve been lucky enough to get hands-on with BigBen’s upcoming official truck racing simulator of the ETRC, FIA European Truck Racing Championship, ahead of its launch across the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch in July 2019.
FIA European Truck Racing Championship gives players the chance to get behind the wheel of a 5-tonne monster as you tour the globe racing at some of the most iconic racing circuits. Besides keeping your behemoth in check, you’ll also need to keep a close eye on your brake temperatures as overheating your brakes can spell disaster.
Fortunately, you have a 200-litre water reservoir at your disposal to keep your brakes within the optimal operating temperature. Simply press the water jet button to spray the cool liquid on your brakes to keep them from reaching high temperatures which result in brake fade.
Of course, this means that you are juggling somewhat keeping your racing truck on the grey stuff, avoiding smashing into other trucks while being competitive, spraying water on your brakes and doing your best to evade time penalties by avoiding several posts scattered around the track limits.
Developed by N Racing, the truck racing game actually utilises the KT Engine which has been used to create recent racing titles such as WRC 7, TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge, and V-Rally 4.
FIA European Truck Racing Championship will take players around the globe across its eight rounds which feature iconic tracks such as Le Mans, Nürbürgring, Misano and Hungaroring.
Needless to say, we’re very much looking forward to getting our hands on the full game this July, you can view our first preview of the title in the video below.
