News WRC 8’s career mode will be completely redesigned

Whilst the career modes from the Kylotonn-developed WRC 5, WRC 6, and WRC 7 didn’t really evolve, the French-based developer has been working significantly on WRC 8‘s career mode which promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

As found previously, WRC 8 will not only feature the main WRC cars and drivers, but also a selection of Junior WRC and WRC 2 cars and drivers too. This means players will be expected to start out in the Junior WRC class and advance to WRC 2 before taking on the top-tiered WRC cars.

Players will be able to manage their rally team and make use of each team’s pre-defined skill tree. As you progress through the game you can decide where to spend your points on these skill trees to guide the direction of your team.

Players will also need to manage their schedule and activities between rallies, utilise research and development to improve car performance, and recruit and manage staff members covering several key areas.

The career mode will not only focus on the official WRC calendar but will also task the player to complete several challenges using the title’s historical cars which require a unique driving style which sets them apart from modern-day rally cars.

These classic rally cars should prove a real handful to drive compared to the modern WRC cars which possess tons of grip by comparison. The following four classic rally cars have been confirmed so far: Lancia Fulvia, Lancia Delta Integrale, Ford Escort Mk II, and the Alpine A110. Additionally, WRC 8 will also contain “some Group B cars” which should test the skills of the very best.

That’s about all we know on WRC 8’s career mode right now, understandably Kylotonn is keeping some surprises back. At this early stage, it all sounds very promising indeed especially when you consider the game has come on in leaps and bounds visually – clearly, the extra year development time has helped Kylotonn realise their vision.

WRC 8 will release across the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Switch in early September 2019. WRC 8 will contain 50 teams, 14 rallies (countries) and more than 100 special stages from the 2019 season making it the biggest off-road racing game ever. The rally title will feature new off-road physics across its range of different surface types as well as a new dynamic weather system including rain, hail, and snow.
