We’re quickly approaching Xenon Racer‘s release date of March 26 across the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch and have decided to share our initial thoughts on the title with our latest team chat.
Although Xenon Racer takes place in an era of flying vehicles, there’s one last hurrah for traditional wheeled vehicles courtesy of a one-off championship featuring cutting-edge electric cars boosted by Xenon gas (hence Xenon Racer).
Xenon Racer takes more than little from arcade racing games of the nineties with its fast-paced and challenging gameplay coupled with its larger than life environments complete with bright and vivid colours.
A total of nine countries feature so you’ll be racing across the globe soaking in the different atmospheres of China, Canada, France, Tokyo, Dubai, Boston, UAE, and the USA to the backdrop of 20 spirited electro, dubstep, glitch-hop and house music tracks produced by Monstercat’s artists.
In the preview team chat (below) we touch on some of the environments we’ve sampled so far and talk about the general racing mechanics in Xenon Racer which have a surprisingly high learning curve which some may find jarring at first. Those that stick with it, however, will be rewarded with a satisfying high-speed racer that might just scratch your 90’s arcade racing itch.
