DiRT Rally 2.0 will introduce deformable ground for the first time in the series which has the potential to dramatically alter the racing action.
Each rally stage surface evolves over time mimicking the action of countless rally cars blasting over it. Players starting in the first five positions in the starting order will have to drive on a slippery surface clearing away any loose material as they progress through the stage.
Because of this clearing of material, the next five runners or so will find the sweet spot of track evolution to lay down the fastest lap times possible. This sweet spot won’t last long though: those running from 11-50 in the starting order will find a surface that has started to “rut up” with material moved off the racing line to the outer edges of the stage, even the camber is affected too which will equate to a more challenging experience for the driver.Codemasters Chief Games Designer Ross Gowing has said that DiRT Rally 2.0 is particularly difficult when driving down the starting order (therefore on a rough surface) in the rain at night – we believe you, Ross.
DiRT Rally 2.0 features the following six rally locations: New Zealand, Argentina, Spain, Poland, Australia, and the USA. The title, due February 26 across the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, also features eight official circuits from the FIA World Rallycross championship, complete with licensed Supercars and support series.
