Mere days after the rumours of a new Micro Machines title, Codemasters has confirmed that Micro Machines: World Series does indeed exist and will be coming to the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this April.
The latest edition in the iconic gaming franchise will stay true to its classic roots however now we of course have those gorgeous crisp full HD visuals to salivate over.
Standard modes of race and elimination are of course included however World Series will see the addition of a Battle Mode. The new mode will take place in battle arenas and Codemasters has stated that it will “allow you to wreak mass destruction on a miniature scale against your friends or the AI”, sounds almost like a demolition derby which could be interesting.
Elsewhere, the Team Play mode enables you to work together with others with modes like King of the Hill and Capture the Flag to keep you busy. Impressively, the miniature racer will support up to 12 players online and four players can play simultaneously via split-screen local multiplayer which should be great for some laughs. It certainly seems as though the big focus of Micro Machines World Series is on the multiplayer aspect.
Surprisingly, the game only features 12 vehicles, so gone is the vehicle collecting found in Micro Machines V3 for instance. However each vehicle will have its own unique arsenal of weapons and abilities along with a wealth of customisation options. It seems as though Codemasters are really looking to seperate the vehicles into their own categories, making them very different from one another this time around.
We'll have more on Micro Machines: World Series in the coming weeks, let us know in the comments if you are interested in the title and if you've dabbled with any of the older titles previously.
