News Le Mans Esports Series launched at Six Hours of Silverstone race

The qualifying rounds for the Le Mans Esports Series’ first race has begun, in tandem with the contest’s launch at the Six Hours of Silverstone endurance race.

Consisting of online and offline events hosted on Forza Motorsport 7, the Le Mans Esports Series is touted as an accessible competition, with professional e-racers, amateur competitors and beginner players being eligible to participate.

Entrants will also be able to select which region they wish to represent in the Le Mans Esports Series: “Europe, Middle East and Africa”, “the Americas” and “Asia and Oceania”. The region can be selected during the contest’s registration phase.

Seven rounds will make up the inaugural Le Mans Esports Series, with the last being the Super Final held in May 2019 at the Circuit de la Sarthe and culminating just before the real-life Le Mans 24 Hours race.

The remaining six events will run in tandem with World Endurance Championship races and the Autosport International exhibition, with the 6 Hours of Silverstone-supporting event being active now at time of writing.

Entrants will be guaranteed a place in the final by winning the qualifying stage outright, with the three regions’ qualifying round victors forming a three-person team for the Super Final.

Four more teams will be formed based on how competitive the entrants were against the competitors they were racing against, with the event organisers also fast tracking two additional teams to the event at Le Mans.In total, 12 three-person teams will be pitted against each other in the Super Final races.

Round Two: Suzuka Circuit ( 6 Hours of Fuji)

Round Three: Bathurst (Six Hours of Shanghai)

Races: 20th November 2018 to 1st December 2018
Held at: Online only

Round Four: Brands Hatch (Autosport International)

Registration: 8th December 2018 to 30th December 2018

Held at: Online; offline event for European, Middle-Eastern and African competitors on 10th January at Autosport International

Round Five: Sebring International Raceway (1,000 Miles of Sebring)
