The first qualifying round of the McLaren Shadow esports competition will kick off on 31st July, with iRacing users being the first out of the blocks to earn a spot in the content.
Set to be spread out over two series, the iRacing qualifying round of the McLaren Shadow tournament will be eligible to all users with a D license or higher (thus exempting Rookie players from participating).
A follow-up series will be active from 11th September to 15th October, with users swapping the hybrid single-seater for a closed-wheel, tin top McLaren 12C GT3.
Races in both iRacing McLaren Shadow qualifying series will be held daily, with the races starting at 1:00 AM, 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM Greenwich Mean Time. Races held on the Sundays will also be broadcasted live on the Internet via the official iRacing website.
Entrants will be tasked with accumulating as many points as possible across the iRacing qualifying rounds. The driver with the highest points tally at the end of the qualifier will then be invited to participate in the competition’s finals in January 2019 at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking.
Prospective entrants will be able to enter the iRacing-based qualifying rounds through the official iRacing website.
Those who wish to participate in the competition through other platforms will have their opportunity to do soon too. Qualifying rounds will be held on the mobile racing game Real Racing 3 from August too, with the qualifying series on the rFactor 2 and Forza platforms commencing in September and October respectively.
