Release Date: 19/08/2021
For many years the biking genre was dominated by Milestone who had a good decade of a biking market mostly to themselves. That all changed in 2018 when NACON entered the scene with TT Isle of Man, and swiftly followed with a sequel in 2020 along with the announcement of RiMS Racing. Little has been known about this game to date besides it being created by a range of experienced developers who have formed RaceWard Studio, many of which have previously worked at Milestone, now with a blank canvas to bring their own vision to the table. The idea being a bike game with unrivalled depth, unique in its approach and providing an option for bikers quite unlike anything they had enjoyed before. Today we see the first details along with a new trailer giving a glimpse of what to expect.
In terms of details, RiMS Racing aims to produce a unique concept combining mechanics and riding, with mechanics forming a central part of the game. RiMS Racing aims to provide a ‘unique simulation experience’ requiring a combination of engineering and riding skills. All using an innovative mechanics management system, which enables players to optimise every part of their bike down to the smallest component. With over 500 official spare parts available and more than 200 official equipment items for the rider, RiMS Racing aims to set a new standard for customisation options.
In terms of mechanical gameplay players will be required to use their bike data much like a real rider, analysing the behaviour of their motorcycle in real time to optimise the set-up. From brake disc temperature and tyre pressure to suspension behaviour and electronics, the idea is for ‘ultra-realistic’ and precise physics, recreates every hazard of the race. Players will start their adventure by choosing a motorcycle from eight of the most powerful European and Japanese models, these are apparently recreated with unparalleled accuracy thanks to a collaboration with the various manufacturers. The trailer features the MV Agusta F4 RC and its precision mechanics. This four-cylinder bike with over 200 horsepower is MV Agusta’s flagship model and is fitted with an Ohlins TTX 36 shock absorber, Brembo radial braking system and fairing made primarily of carbon. All these components are supposedly reproduced in the ‘finest detail’ in RiMS Racing.
Another iconic motorcycle making an appearance in the trailer is the Ducati Panigale V4 R, we at Team VVV look forward to seeing the unveiling of the full roster. While in terms of circuits, Silverstone Circuit, WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Suzuka Circuit, Nürburgring GP Track, Circuit Paul Ricard are among the 10 circuits feature, full list still yet to be revealed. For those who prefer roads, five routes across the United States, Norway, Australia, Spain and Italy have been recreated hoping producing some flowing roads ready for some fast racing.
RiMS Racing will be available on 19 August 2021 on PlayStation®4, PlayStation®5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on Nintendo Switch™.
