Honda has officially unveiled its inaugural contribution to the Vision Gran Turismo concept car initiative: the succinctly-named Honda Sports Vision Gran Turismo.
A collaborative effort between Honda's design and engineering teams in Japan and the United States, the Honda Sports Vision Gran Turismo is billed as a "true sports model" that "pursues the fun of driving".
Despite being a pure flight of fantasy, the Honda Sports Vision Gran Turismo was developed as if it were a real car. Packaging considerations were a prime focus for the development team, and the car's aerodynamic qualities were honed after extensive wind tunnel testing using a scale model of the two-seater performance car.
Propelling the Honda Sports Vision Gran Turismo is a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that transmits its 410 horsepower to the rear wheels through an eight-speed semi-automatic transmission. Due to the claimed extensive use of carbon fibre, the Honda Sports Vision Gran Turismo also tips the scales at a mere 899 kilograms.
Players of Gran Turismo Sport are now able to access the Honda Sports Vision Gran Turismo in the PlayStation 4-exclusive racing game.
