The latest addition to the long-running Vision Gran Turismo concept car initiative has been revealed in full at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Created by the famed Italian coachbuilder Zagato, the IsoRivolta Vision Gran Turismo is a tribute to the classic Iso Rivolta from the 1960s – even though the VGT concept shares very few if any design traits with the vintage grand touring car.
Performance figures have yet to be disclosed, though it has been confirmed by Zagato that the IsoRivolta is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.2 litre V8 engine that produces over 1,000 horsepower. In a nod to the original Iso Rivolta being propelled by a Chevrolet V8 engine, the IsoRivolta VGT's powerplant is produced by Callaway – a US-based firm with a long history of upgrading Chevrolet engines.
Though strictly a concept car at this early stage, Zagato does have intentions of producing road-legal IsoRivolta Vision Gran Turismo examples in extremely limited numbers.
Currently, the Zagato IsoRivolta Vision Gran Turismo is yet to be featured in Gran Turismo Sport. It has been confirmed, however, that the new design study will be introduced to the PlayStation 4-exclusive racing game in a future update.
