McLaren Automotive has unveiled a surprise new addition to the ever-growing Vision Gran Turismo concept car initiative.
Called the 'McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo', the new design study is McLaren's extreme interpretation of what a future McLaren road car could potentially resemble in the year 2030.
Developing 1,150 horsepower and 940 lb-ft of torque, the McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo's hybrid powertrain consists of a 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine and two electric motors. Performance figures weren't cited in the announcement, though it was stated the McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo has a 1,150 horsepower-per-tonne power-to-weight ratio
As well as an extensive use of carbon fibre, the McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo also features notable technological features. For instance, adjustable aperture covers reduce or increase drag as they open and close respectively, and the aggressive packaging has resulted in the McLaren featuring a motorcycle-inspired, forward-leaning driving position.
Being branded an 'Ultimate' car, the McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo could potentially preview the styling cues we'll see on a future Ultimate Series McLaren model. It's remains to be seen, however, whether this Vision Gran Turismo ends up inspiring the look of McLaren's upcoming 'BP23' three-seater Ultimate Series successor to the McLaren P1.
The McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo will make its Gran Turismo debut in Gran Turismo Sport, in time for then the title is officially released in October 2017.
